Workers Council is a group of Winona ORC clients that are elected by their peers to represent the entire workforce. They work together to discuss working conditions, create events, and raise money for chosen charities. Each June, new members are elected and sit on the council for two years. Regular meetings are set for once a month.
Workers Council raises money through can collections, vending machines, lunches served twice a week, and other small activities throughout the year. Thanks to the generosity of WORC staff and clients, Workers Council is able to donate over a thousand dollars annually to several worthy causes. In addition, the Council hosts special events including an annual Halloween Dance. They also sponsor the Employee of the Month award, giving recognition to employees (clients) for outstanding job performance.
