We at Winona Occupational Rehabilitation Center are excited to announce that a $5,000 matching grant was awarded to us through the Winona Community Foundation in late June to support our New Bus Campaign. This is in addition to a grant awarded  to WORC through the Minnesota Department of Transportation, which covers 80% of the cost of the vehicle. WORC is responsible for the balance. We have successfully raised $4,525 to match the Winona Community Foundation grant - we are $475 from our goal.

This grant is in conjuction with the Minnesota Department of Transportation Bus Grant Program that awarded Winona ORC funds toward a new bus for 2009. The grant covers only 80% of the cost and Winona ORC is responsible for the remaining 20%.

 

The projected costs for the new 2009 bus are $49,600! This includes $15,000 toward the purchase price and $34,600 in on-going transportation costs. Annually, we expect to provide over 10,000 rides for people with disabilities with the new bus at a cost of $3.46 per ride (see chart below for a break down of 2008 on-going transportation costs). Help Winona ORC alleviate the costs through a donation toward our Transportation Services. Our Transportation Services are truly a great benefit to our clients and for some, it is their only option.
