Everyone looks for a purpose, a reason to wake up in the morning. Winona ORC provides that opportunity to over 320 people with disabilities on a daily basis. The people we serve come from a diverse population within Winona and the surrounding counties. In general, there is a dramatic underemployment of people with disabilities. Disabilities are strongly associated with an individual’s ability to find work.
A traumatic brain injury took away Troy’s motor functions and his dexterity level. Ashley’s leg was broken, and standing for a long period of time puts a strain on her workday, limiting job opportunities. The extra attention and training needed for Michael because of his mental disability hinders his skill level and options for employment.
Winona ORC provides services to these people to give them a chance for independence that wouldn’t be achievable otherwise.
