JOB SUMMARY

 

The Coordinator of Pre- Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) Programs is responsible for coordination and development of pre-employment services and resources to students with disabilities in the age range of 14-21. The coordinator will collaborate with schools, vocational rehabilitation services, and the Client Services department. Provide job exploration counseling, work-based learning experience, postsecondary education counseling, workplace readiness training, and instruction in self-advocacy to students identified by vocational rehabilitation services. This position will partner with schools and their disability support services to prepare students for their successful transition after graduation.

 

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  1. Student- Based Research and Development Programming (40%) – Meeting with students upon intake decide what programming is needed, complete paperwork of intake information, determine and develop the appropriate transition services needed. Research and develop programming based on the student’s needs and evaluation. Collaborate with local businesses to provide work-based learning opportunities. Programming is dependent on what category the student is needing based off the Pre-Employment Transition Services via the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. (See attachment p 3).

 

  1. Administration (40%) – Developing monthly invoices for an individual or group of individuals, billing is according to Pre-Et’s Service rates, progress reports completed per person and are included with the invoice. Filling out employer feedback forms if working with a Community Partner contracted with ORC. Billing for ORC Transportation if students are working at another job site or interviewing at a job site. Distinguishing between eligible Vocational Rehabilitation students and potentially eligible students. Complying with Vocational Rehabilitation Services guidelines on documentation needed as listed above. Comply with requirements of regulatory agencies including polices on 245D responding to and reporting incidents and following all safety practices of Winona ORC’s mission, vision, goals, and policies.

 

 

  1. Team Participation (10%) – Attend all assigned internal meetings. Participate in all activities that are requested, and perform other duties as assigned. Provide honest feedback in meetings. Support team decisions. Seek out supervisor with concerns.

 

  1. Communication (10%) – Effectively communicate in a timely manner with staff, students, families/guardians, outside agencies i.e. contracted work sites and school staff, and vocational rehabilitation services (funding source). Communicate in a manner that protects and ensures client confidentiality.

 

 

MEASURES OF SUCCESS/STANDARDS

 

  1. Student- Based Research and Development Programming Work with students to expand skills and knowledge within the five transition services. Individual Transitional Plans are developed for each student. Potential students are evaluated for services needed. The intake procedures are understood and followed. Student referrals and service coordination are implemented in a complete and timely manner.

 

  1. AdministrationEffectively document contacts with students and their activity. Any communications with school staff, VRS, or businesses needs to be documented. Produce progress notes as activities and contacts occur, use notes for monthly billing. Complies with requirements of regulatory agencies and Winona ORC’s mission, vision, goals, and policies.

 

  1. Team Participation – Attendance and participation requirements at all assigned meetings, activities, and other necessary meetings are met. Team decisions are supported, and concerns have been addressed. All duties assigned by supervisor have been completed.

 

  1. Communication – Communication with staff, students, families/guardians, outside agencies, and funding sources is maintained in an effective and timely manner. Student confidentiality is maintained.

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

 

Education: ·      Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related fields preferred
Experience: ·      At least two to three years experience in related field preferred

·      Ability to provide educational services to students with disabilities

·      Computer literate. Proficient in MS Office

Language Skills: ·      Proficient writing, speaking, and communication skills
Mental Demands: ·      Able to perform functions described in core accountabilities

·      Able to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations

·      Able to work independently

 

Reasoning Ability:

 

·      Able to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Licensing or Certifications and other requirements: ·       CPR and First Aid certification, valid driver’s license, and current vehicle insurance

·       Able to pass MN Department of Human Services background study.

·      Able to pass drug screening and criminal background check
